The organizers of this competition wish to inform to the readers and those members of the teams who have already registered to participate, that the date of the present competition that had been originated to be carried out on december, 2007, it has been postponed for the present year due to problems of publicity and promotion, totally beyond our control. Thank you very much.

On February 29, March 1-2, 2008, in Argentine will be held the “First National and International Competition of Survival and Orienteering 2007” (Copy Right), to be carried out in areas of wooded land near of Ezeiza city, located in the Province of Buenos Aires.

The structure of the competition is a physical-intellectual test that will be carried out in the wilderness of a wooded and plain land, and will be made up of local and foreigners teams of 3 members each, male or female of any sex, whose in order to take part in the event, they must have knowledge and be experienced in the use of Survival, Orienteering and Land Navigation techniques, to be able of carrying them out on outdoor activities. The organization of this sporting event in which some members of its staff will provide full support as English translators to provide assistance for foreign teams, will require that the participants have special skills and abilities to be oriented, to walk and to survive in the wilderness during 3 days time through an itinerary of 60 kms. of distance. In order to do that, they must use the standard discipline of trekking to walk through the wood area towards the different objectives located on the terrain (natural doors) and to reach the finish point of the competition.

During the itinerary, the teams will be required to make some tests and theoretical/practice verifications, about the following subjects:

  • Health and First Aids.
  • Emergency signalling (codes, methods, etc).
  • Construction of shelters.
  • Water obtainment.
  • Food obtainment.
  • Fire obtainment.
  • Compass use.
  • Maps and topographic maps use.
  • Wade of obstacles.
  • Canopy.
  • Rappel.
  • Construction of traps.
  • Walk.
  • Safety rules in the survival.
  • Meteorology and weather forecast.
  • Wild feeding at any place in which you
    must survive.
  • Distance esteem.
  • Heighst and wide.
  • Art of improvised way of hunting and fishing.
  • Crossing with ropes.
  • Construction of primitive weapons.
  • Communications.
  • Climbing.
  • Knowledge of arthropod and ophidians.


Those members of the teams that wish to take part in the competition and don’t feel ready to participate because they are not experienced on the required skills, the U.A.S.O. and NORTHLATITUDE (C.A.C.E.N.), will run courses on Survival, Orienteering and Land Navigation techniques, to provide them a technical education and training based on a theoretical-practice assistance, according to the type of event in which they would participate, through the information you can find on this website www.northlatitude.com.ar – Section courses of Survival – Orienteering and Land Navigation. Likewise, the teaching reaches to those interested who like foreigners want to participate and get educated and trained in Argentine also, because we have scheduled before the competition get started, to run courses about the aforementioned techniques in full English language, in classroom (theory) and on the terrain (training), meaning this that the organizers of this sporting event will not only carry out a competition like this one for the first time in Argentine, if not, they offer the opportunity to train foreigners in English language aimed for an international competition, becoming us in this way as forerunners in the South America continent, to run courses in other language for a competition.

Who may participate? Everyone. The participation in this competition reaches to those persons who want to compete because there is neither limit of age nor of sex, even, families, relatives, friends, Co workers members, etc, may form a team.

The practice phase of the courses (Survival and Orienteering) will be given on wild wood lands of Jungle and forest lands in the outskirts of Buenos Aires.

Special-Preparatory course of Survival, Orienteering and Land Navigation techniques for participating teams.

We inform you that if want to participate and have no knowledge on the required techniques, we’ve scheduled to run some preparatory courses on combined techniques of Survival, Orienteering and Land Navigation, before the start of the competition

It will last three (3) days and will be divided as follow below:

Day 1

Theoretical class of Cartography, Orienteering and Land Navigation techniques – Introduction to Survival (to be given in classrooms in our Center of Buenos Aires – Capital Federal).

Day 2 and 3

Practice class on Survival, Cartography, Orienteering and Land Navigation techniques (to be given on wild lands of Jungle and Forest in the outskirts of Buenos Aires).
