At our Education and Training Argentine Center NORTHLATITUDE (C.A.C.E.N.), we present for the first time in Argentine and for the national and international world of sport and adventure, a new way of learning and enjoying in the nature. The Multiadventure, with original idea from the national and international parachutist, the Argentine expert, Mario “dog” Rodriguez, consist of a combination of air and grounds activities to carry out together in the wilderness, involving to the Parachuting, the Survival, the Orienteering and Land Navigation techniques and the Trekking. A unique adventure you may choose to live during three days in the nature.
The Multiadventure will begin with the Parachuting, when you exit an aircraft in a Tandem Jump at an altitude of up to 3.000 mts. (around 9.843 feet) above the earth, pretending that you are abandoning the aircraft due to an emergency that have taken place inside the aircraft. During the free-fall you are about to be assisted and securely strapped to the body of a tandem skydiving instructor by a dual harness system, in which the instructor will be wearing the parachute on his back. The first phase of the jump will take your breath away when experiencing the free-fall of the first 1.500 mts. of altitude (around 4.922 feet), while falling down during 35 seconds. After that, when reaching the second and last 1.500 mts. of altitude (the remaining 4.922 feet), the instructor will pull the ripcord of the equipment to open and deploy the canopy and start descending to earth during a soft and serene 5 or 6 minutes ride under parachute. After that time, you will be back on earth after landing on a wild land located in a wooded-like area, in which the instructor’s staff will get together along with all the adventurers to let them know about the following activities to carry out.
A precarious camp will be set on land in which the Survival and First Aids instructors will start an introductory and demonstrative class, wherein they will teach some subjects regarding to those techniques and skills that are needed to be applied in a survival situation. Among them, there will be taught in some topics like survivor behavior in the wilderness (Survival psychology), human groups (Leadership), different kinds of terrain and climates in which a survival may happen, etc.By class’s end, the adventurers will begin their first practical skills by applying the aforementioned techniques directly on the terrain. For that, they will engage in outdoor activities like exploring the surroundings to choose and set a campsite and start surviving for a few days. Besides, within the techniques and methods to practice are those like to assist wounded persons and handle a simulated situation by constructing stretchers (First Aids), signaling for air rescue (Signaling), shelter procurement (Refugee), water obtainment (Water), traps construction, wild foods procurement (Foods), firemaking skills (Fire). Tyrolese, rappel and raft construction will be other skills to develop.
- ORIENTEERING AND LAND NAVIGATION
During the second day of survival in the terrain, an Orienteering and Land Navigation instructor will give you and introductory and demonstrative class of the basics on Orienteering and Land Navigation techniques. The methods would be helpful in the case you have to face a real survival situation and after being a few days lost, you need to abandon the wild place where you lived at, in order to look for some help, using artificial and natural skills on orienteering to walk away and keep surviving. In this way, the adventurers-survivors will learn how to be oriented by using artificial and natural ways of navigation, according to the different positions of the sun, moon and start in the sky. Other topics covered will be compass types and uses, maps, topographic maps and satellite image photo, technical skills on topographic map reading and designing of land navigation, setting and following bearings with a compass towards several destinations of the wilderness, crossing and wading natural obstacles.
The third and last day of adventure and survival, it will be the end of the activities “in situ”. It means that the group must leave the camping site to look for some help in other places, possibly located a few kilometers away. In order to do that, the survivors, who will ever be accompanied and guided by the instructors all the time, will use a compass and a local topographic map to navigate through the wilderness. The journey will be a long Trekking in which every survivor will carry its personal stuff of survival (P.S.S.) on his back. To walk through the wilderness, they will apply some technical skill on orienteering, i.e., the will need to set and follow bearings to reach some destinations on the terrain, using information from the map, provided beforehand by the instructors. At the end of the journey, all the survivors will arrive to a place to have a warmly reception and to be invited to taste a deserved and delicious barbecue (BBC). Later, they will receive a testimonial certificate of the lived adventure
This Multiadventure has been designed according to our experiences as instructors, through many years of training at each area. We aim to provide you, if you decide to choose this experience with us, to give a”Full Adventure”. But, beyond it, this adventure meets a special meaning of teaching and training per excellence, because, it contains a high level of education and besides, it is the first time that we offer for the local and international adventure tourism through Northlatitude, a special way of preparing and training you. When we say to prepare you it means that you are not about to live a very interesting adventure by experiencing combined activities on Skydiving, Survival, Orienteering and Land Navigation and Trekking during three days together, it means that you are about to be professionally educated to face a possible real survival situation that might take place in the wilderness of any wild terrain, and also, to be oriented, to know where to go, how to walk in a wild wood land and how to find some help successfully.
